My friend Scott in Los Angeles received his copy of my book yesterday -- something I have not even seen yet. This unlikely turn of events reminded him of when his film "Kabluey" came out a few years ago and I got to see the much-anticipated New York Times review before he did when I was assigned to edit it. (A good review can make or break a film.) His review was indeed good, but he never responded to my email last night asking how the book looked in person!
FYI: It turns out I'm not Beyonce. Apparently my publisher "accidentally" put it on Amazon prematurely but has since decided to pull it back. (I don't agree with this decision.) The official publication date is March 5, so if you weren't one of the people like Scott who bought it while it was on Amazon, rest assured you will be getting another chance soon. Thanks to everyone who wrote in concerned about it being marked OUT OF PRINT. (WTF?)
