In Wake of Zimmerman Verdict, Obama Makes Extensive Statement on Race in America

Good for him for speaking out, giving such a thoughtful and contextualized assessment of the whole thing -- making sure to address problems of "poverty and dysfunction" in black communities and acknowledging that young African American men are disproportionately "both the victims and perpetrators of violence" -- while urging respect for the legal system..
