I didn't really follow the Backstreet Boys or Nsync back in the day -- a friend did buy me a 98 Degrees book for Christmas in '98, however, because of my fixation with Jeff Timmons! -- but I later got the Boys' greatest hits CD while muddling my way through the BMG CD club for the fourth or fifth time. Their best-known songs are still catchy enough, but it's the single "Drowning" that I find myself listening to over and over again. With its plaintive lyrics and irresistible chorus, it's kind of like "Total Eclipse of the Heart" if Bonnie Tyler weren't such a drama queen!
