Re-Election Day

Wound up being an hour late to work today because I had to wait to vote for the first time ever at my polling station. (And I didn't even get a sticker!) I don't mind waiting -- it always surprised me that I didn't have to in the past, plus the bigger the turnout the better, at least according to Rachel Maddow. But when I finally got to the front of the line after 90 minutes of barely moving an inch -- there weren't that many people ahead of me and a dozen voting "booths" sat empty-- and realized they only had one alphabetizing-challenged grandmother with one book of voter names, it did make me kind of angry -- and worried. This on top of the fact that they had a guy who was either mentally retarded or deaf in charge of telling people which district they were in -- neither option is ideal for the skill set needed for his job -- and his success rate at looking up people's addresses was about 25 percent. In states like New York and California, every vote doesn't really count. But it's frightening when you realize it's also like this in swing states. Oh, well. It's all in God's hands now -- and by God I mean the people of Ohio.

I'm apparently not alone, although I am sure it was completely unnecessary in my case.
