"Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition" trainer Chris Powell had a scary incident recently, when his young son and nanny were carjacked after dropping off Chris' wife at a friend's house to get her hair done. My friend who sent me the story immediately said, "My first first thought was, 'Chris Powell is straight?'" I, on the other hand, was more taken aback that the incident happened in the Phoenix suburb I grew up in, which was a charming enough place in the late '70s and '80s but has become a hotbed for criminals, including the man who was arrested for this incident, a reported member of the Nazi Low Riser gang. Oh, Mesa: Where did you go wrong?

you haven't been back in a while. Mesa is meth city. It's awful.
Central Phoenix is somewhat nicer though... but not nearly as great as NYC. ;-)
D: Yeah, you're right. My parents sold our house in 1990 and moved to Ahwatukee, which was/is a lot like Mesa was when we moved there in '79. Very sad to hear.
Um, I'd gain an extra 300 or 400 pounds just to have him work me over!
