Shocking scene outside the Empire State Building -- I stopped by Macy's on my way to work to see the aftermath and snapped these two pics -- where a disgruntled ex-employee (Jeffrey Johnson, a fashion accessories designer who was fired a year ago) shot and killed his boss (identified as Steve Ercolino) before cops shot him dead. (Nine others were wounded, some I'm guessing from friendly fire.) The New York Post has the grisly details HERE.

And in Chicago we have had 15 homicides in one week, where is the national coverage on that? I guess we are not the second city after all.

Bloomberrg is a moron. He has a shooting by a mad man in mid-town and uses it to further his agenda. Even with strict gun control this guy still managed to get a gun. Nothing is EVER going to stop this kind of violence. We must have swift and severe punishment and strong hanging judges not political grandstanding.
This is an awful story. It got the coverage it did cuz it happened across the street from the Empire Stste building & it shut down midtown Manhattan for hours.
Why were so many innocent bystanders shot? Were the cops inept? Seems like it, eh? U become immune to a lot living in NYC, but dodging bullets? Er, no.
I get the impression both victim & murderer were gay. What could have caused them to have such dramatic conflict? Guess we'll find out soon . . .
Well, it looks like victim wasn't gay but murderer may have been -- guess it doesn't matter.

Most of us have worked w/both these types -- nerdy/eccentric guy & arrogant/asshole salesdude. Maybe the salesman wasn't quite the nice guy they're making him out to be. Maybe he tortured the other guy till he snapped.
