A New Chapter?

I bought my first eBook last night, Ryan Knighton's acclaimed memoir "Cockeyed." Well, technically it was my second, but the first one that was also available in print. I feel kind of guilty about it -- I'm the guy who is still (kinda) buying CDs, and I've collected books my entire life, too. But storage is very limited over on West 18th Street (the books are piling up!!!) and I was in the mood for something new, so the combination was irresistible.  Not sure if this is truly the end of an era -- I love going to book signings and readings, so will want the physical book for those occasions -- but it sure felt like it. I'm slow to embrace new things -- just got my iPad last month (thanks, Mikey!) -- but is anyone else going through this now?

Moving into and out of SF with so many books convinced me it was time to go digital. I really like it better than physical books now.

I agree with @miche above. Moving and storing all those books is a pain. I love books and I resisted digital for a long time. I gave in a about a year ago because i needed the space back. I thought I would hate it and miss the books. Turns out I don't hate it and I don't miss the books at all. There are so many nice features on even the most basic Kindle. I donated all my books (>1000) and now I feel like I live in twice the house. I think you will grow to like e-reading very much.

I love books, and have hundreds. I treasure them. But I got an iPad a while ago, and when Apple did it's iBooks thing, I thought: "let's see what this is like". I haven't bought a print book in well over a year. The digital thing is SO easy, and there's so much available. Nice thing is you can get Kindle books on the iPad, too.
