Go Google 'Antitrust Violations'

UPDATE: Not sure how many of us complained, but the notifications are back to the old style and do work on my BlackBerry's browser. Smart move, Google.

UPDATE 2: The date after my update things went back to the way they were -- where you cannot use Blogger on a BlackBerry. Disgusting -- and illegal?

Well for fuck's sake. It's no secret Microsoft, Facebook, Apple and Google have long been in trouble for a variety of anticompetitive and privacy-invading practices, but this latest move by the search behemoth is just plain dickish. Google owns Blogger, the platform I use to create my blog. Up until today, I would get email notifications when someone leaves a comment that allowed me to "moderate" the comment directly from the email ("accept" or "reject"). This was something I could do from my BlackBerry throughout the day -- or even away on vacation -- without ever needing to be near a computer. Suddenly today, the email notification just gives me a link to the Blogger comment moderation page, rather than giving me the "accept" or "reject" option right in the email (see below). OK, I thought. It'll add an unnecessary extra step of making me go to Blogger to retrieve the comments first -- they are "rebooting" Blogger this month, so I was expecting that would mean "make it less user-friendly" -- but it's not the end of the world.

But no. Now when I try to follow the annoying extra step to the Blogger comment moderation page on my BlackBerry, it tells me that "certain Blogger pages are not compatible with your browser; please try using Chrome."

Not compatible with my browser? Because you MADE them not compatible with my browser TODAY to try to railroad me into buying an Android phone. I'm filing a sure-to-be-ignored complaint with the Federal Trade Commission -- this cannot be legal.
