As you may have heard, the New Hampshire House defeated an effort to repeal the right to gay marriage earlier today, by a vote of 211-116. Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York had this to say about this landmark decision by a Republican-led chamber:
“Today’s decisive vote in the New Hampshire State Legislature is a victory for marriage equality everywhere. With over 100 members from each party voting to preserve marriage equality, New Hampshire lawmakers from across the political spectrum made a strong statement that marriage is a basic right. I congratulate New Hampshire for helping ensure that individuals have the right to marry the person they choose.”
