Gay Cruising

Got this message this morning from a friend of mine:

On on the 5,000-plus passenger Allure of the Seas, on an Atlantis gay cruise. Captain told us an hour ago that one of the passengers went overboard here, off the coast of Cozumel, early this morning. We were all woken up over the P.A. system about 7:30 a.m., and told to go to our lifeboat assembly stations so they could do a head count. Pretty bizarre.

Apparently it's TRUE.

Anyone know if he was rescued or found? Reached out to my friend, will report if I hear back.

UPDATE: This is the message I just got from my friend:

No. The captain says that the official explanation is he's missing. But this is now a good 12 hours after security cameras caught him going overboard. Captain said recently that this is the first such incident for him in his 20-year career. On this same cruise last year, they caught a guy with $50K in cash in his room, dealing X and meth.

UPDATE: The man has been identified as Kenneth John Gemmell, a native of Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland. He had gone on the cruise to celebrate his 30th birthday. His family is desperately trying to speak with people who spent time with their son before his tragic ending. More HERE.
