Saw and liked "Crazy Stupid Love" over the weekend. It's an odd film -- somewhere between a chick flick and an Apatow wannabe -- that combines equal parts low-brow humor and heartfelt sentimentality. I didn't LOVE it -- something about the pacing seemed a tad off to me, and I'm probably the only person in the world who doesn't adore Emma Stone -- but the rest of the cast (and Ryan Gosling's body) was enough to make me enjoy the film quite a bit.
Afterward, I got home and found my brother had sent me the trailer for "The Myth of the American Sleepover," about "four young people navigating the suburban wonderland of Metro-Detroit looking for love and adventure on the last night of summer." Naturally, I'm ready to head out to the theater -- remember "Skateland"? -- even if the trailer already has me bent out of shape with no one even trying to sound like they're from Michigan? (Would you set a film in Dublin and not have the actors try on a brogue?!!!!!)
