RIP, Elaine Kaufman

Elaine Kaufman -- whose namesake restaurant was one of the reasons I wanted to move to New York (so I could run into Woody Allen!) -- died today in Manhattan. She was 81 -- and outlived The New York Post's estimate by a solid 2-plus years!

Why do I love her? "After an argument with her, Norman Mailer vowed never to return and wrote her an unflattering letter. She scribbled 'Boring' across the top and sent it back to him. A day or two later, he was back."
