RIP, Charles DeVoe

Was very saddened to read that (212) model fave Charles DeVoe had died at age 28, a month after a freak surfing accident left him in a coma. DeVoe worked for my friend Jason Kanner, who frequently furnished me with photos of the sexy Philadelphian like THESE and THESE. Jason told The Daily News that Charles was "a lovely kid who was respected and loved. This is a stunning and tragic loss." Indeed. Is it more tragic when someone beautiful dies? Of course not. But there is something particularly unsettling when something bad happens to someone who appears to "have it all" and you're reminded that they are, indeed, only human, just like the rest of us. My condolences to his family and other loved ones. May he rest in peace.

I agree. It's not so much the beautiful man that died but the young man who died that bothers me. Who knows what else he would have done to make the world a better place. Everyone loses.

From Stylite:

Devoe had been in a coma for almost a month after a surfing accident at the Rockaways on Nov. 12. He was pulled underwater, where his ankle tether got wrapped around a wooden pole. He was trapped for a few minutes before Fire Department divers were able to cut him loose.
