Page 1 Consider (03/16)

  • Doctor My Eyes: When I got done swooning over this photo of Marc Baskett, a 25-year-old Georgia man who recovered from a traumatic brain injury with the help of experimental progesterone therapy (he works at his parents' cleaning business but, you guessed it, aspires to be a model), I suddenly felt like I was transported back to the 1950s when the piece went on to quote physiological psychologist Donald Stein who say that "even doctors expressed reservations about using progesterone to treat men" asking "is it going to sterilize them? Is it going to make them gay?" they would ask." REALLY? Medical doctors think female hormones cause not breast growth or skin softening, but HOMOSEXUALITY???? Are you reading this, GLAAD? Or should I say the American Medical Association? (USA Today)

  • Soap Opera: Has GLAAD unwittingly awarded anti-gay shows three years in a row? (The Envelope)

  • The Winner Takes It All: A shirtless (of course) Iggy Pop and the Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last night at the Waldorf-Astoria. But sadly, only 50 percent of ABBA showed up for their turn (Frida Lyngstad and Benny Andersson, who named "Swedish folk music, German schmaltz and John Philip Sousa among the group’s influences"). With my dreams of a reunion performance quashed, Faith Hill instead sang “The Winner Takes It All,” with Andersson leading the backup band on piano. (NYT)

  • He's Still Bad: Nine months after his death, the estate of Michael Jackson has signed one of the biggest recording contracts in history -- guaranteeing up to $250 million in advances and other payments, giving Sony the rights to sell his back catalog and draw on a large vault of unheard recordings. (NYT)

  • Just Josh: Although I still think the original casting of Matt Damon as Dan White was sublime (the resemblance was uncanny), sexy Josh Brolin -- who may or may not be a wife beater (oops) -- did turn in a memorable performance as the self-hating assassin in "Milk." He discusses that role and why he's not sure if Woody Allen is serious or not in the new T magazine HERE.

  • Where Is the Love?: Gov. Bob McDonnell of Virginia says he’s done enough to protect gays. (WSLS)

  • Paquita la del Barrio: Sort of ironic that a Mexican drag queen would tell People en Espanol that she'd rather see her child die than be raised by gay people. (Towleroad)

  • Later, Gator: I already had a chip on my shoulder against Gainesville, Floria, because my job is being outsourced there. But this smear campaign against a gay mayoral candidate really seals the deal. (Just how did the college town get ranked the nation's 11th gay friendliest city?) (Gainesville)

  • Bar Hop: If you're gonna get hammered in a gay bar this weekend in New York City, why not do it for a good cause? (Drinking for a Change)

  • RIP: The Rev. Robert Carter, who in the early 1970s was one of the first Roman Catholic priests in the country to declare publicly that he was gay and who helped found the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, died on Feb. 22 in the Bronx. He was 82. (NYT)

  • RIP: Charles Moore, a photographer who braved physical peril to capture searing images -- including lawmen using dogs and fire hoses against defenseless demonstrators -- that many credit with helping to propel landmark civil rights legislation, died on Thursday in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He was 79. (NYT)

My Gay Agenda needs updating!! I had no idea we were trying to get gays into women's restrooms!! Where have I been? All this time I was trying to get the right to marry, not once taking into consideration my brothers' bladders into consideration. I'm a selfish gay :-(
