See why David Bowie fans are hating on my pal Louis Bayard for his review in The Washington Post of Marc Spitz's new book, "Bowie: A Biography."
I think Lou is spot-on in his assessment of Bowie -- "[t]he issue here is not complexity but vacancy -- and why this makes writing a compelling biography a difficult task. I've already put in a request with him to be able to cut and paste his review for when the next Madonna book comes out as his description of the former Ziggy Stardust -- "biographical antimatter" -- sounds frighteningly similar to the former Material Girl, a comparison I'm guessing she would have dreamed of one day getting while performing track shows at the Palladium, but probably not anymore. UPDATE: -- A Jan. 3 Outlook review of Marc Spitz's book "Bowie: A Biography"
incorrectly grouped the 1980s British alternative rock band the Smiths
with Depeche Mode and Moby, describing them as synth and electro-pop
acts. The Smiths were a guitar-based band.
Lou says the morose black-clad youths haven't left him alone.

I sat beside Bowie at a late-nite Bette Middler show in Maryland back in the 70's. All his teeth were rotten and black - obviously he's had them done since.
Later after the show Bette and Bowie tried to break in front of a huge line at a local all night restaurant and the hostess refused them saying, "Those people in there are my regular customers and they will be here week after week - and I don't know OR care who the hell you are!!"
Bette and Bowie got back in the limo with the Harlettes and disappeared into the night.
True story, I promise.

I have no desire top read any "biography" on anyone. It's juts grey truths/opinions by someone whom either is a fan or a hater. An autobiography, on the other hand, can be hilariously honest or just plain bullshit. And sorry guys, but Bowie IS God.
For the record, Lou and I are both fans of Bowie's, albeit not as much as you, Nojo!
No worries, but I'm am just stating the fact. The fact about Bowie and the fact that I can't spell when I type sometimes ("juts"?! What the hell)?!!! He-he!
