If you're anything like me, you've spent the majority of your adult life wondering what it would be like if Ingmar Bergman directed a Cool Water cologne commercial. Thanks to Tom Ford -- whose debut film, "A Single Man," proves he can make even the most bleak situation look beautiful -- you needn't wonder anymore. My guy may have put it best when asked by a coworker's wife what he thought of the film. "I liked it," he said. "But I wouldn't recommend it."
Matthew Goode, who plays the Don Bachardy-esque charcter (minus the "very strange voice") to Colin Firth's Christopher Isherwood, discusses the film with the Advocate HERE.

So, if the whole movie is shallow, is it OK that I want to see it because the cast is hot?
The movie was overall too pretty, I agree. But Colin Firth was pretty fucking great. I'd say it was one the better performances of his career. Definitely worth an Oscar nomination. The scene with the phone call from Colorado was truly heartbreaking.
Even though the film was lacking in substance, for a first timer, I think Tom Ford did an admirable job.
