Empire Hate

So maybe Gov. Paterson was right: letting the marriage equality bill crash and burn may have been a major setback for movement, but at least we really know where these ambiguously "supportive" senators really stand, and we can act accordingly.

The Advocate reports:

Politically connected gays have zeroed in on a handful of senators to remove from Albany, with Queens' Joe Addabbo (pictured, left) at the top of their list. Other senators targeted include Shirley Huntley (pictured, center), and George Onorato (pictured, right), both of Queens, and Bill Stachowski of Buffalo. Even though not a single Republican senator voted for the marriage bill ... most of the ire is directed as Democrats -- possibly because some received monetary support from gays and others indicated they would vote for marriage equality.

Senator Shirley Huntley is so cute though. She's like the homophobic sweet old lady that you let do their thing, because, well, at 71 years old you're just being nice.

Do we seriously think a handful of politically connected (Manhattan) gays have the resources to not pressure a senator, but have them loose their seat.

My only concern (aside from putting Senator Huntley out of the street, because I just would not be able to sleep at night) is what happens if it backfires.
