Paterson's Gay Agenda

Oh, joy. Marriage equality in New York may very well be put to a vote on Tuesday when Gov. Paterson calls an extraordinary session to deal with the state's budget deficit. Unfortunately, what I haven't heard lately is the bill's sponsor, Tom Duane, bragging that he "has the votes" for it to pass, as he was when the Senate imploded at the beginning of the summer. (And sadly, Duane is mourning the death of his mother on Thursday, so has other things on his mind right now.) What I do hear loud and clear, of course, is Sen. Ruben Diaz -- who does not know the first thing about the separation of church and state -- still looking out for who appears to be the one and only constituent that matters to the Bronx Democrat(!): himself.

I don't know about you, but I've been walking around in fog the past 48 hours. Maine felt like Prop 8 all over again, but worse. We had more money, more volunteers and years to plan and we still lost. Whatever Paterson's motives are, I'm proud of him for being willing to push ahead. Still, I'm not sure if I'm up for being slapped in the face again so soon, especially in my own home. (Full story HERE.)
