ESPN fired Steve Phillips on Sunday, less than a week after a newspaper revealed that he had had an affair with a 22-year-old production assistant with the network. Did he take it like a man, you ask? Steve Lefkowitz, Phillips’ agent, said in a statement, “Steve Phillips is voluntarily admitting himself to an inpatient treatment facility to address his personal issues.” Apparently Lefkowitz informed ESPN on Friday of Phillips’ intention but to the network's credit, they didn't take the bait.
Nice try, Steve.
