On the Rag, Vol. 56

A weekly look at what's making news in New York's free gay rag:

Here's your first look at the newly redesigned Next magazine, which seems to have taken over its old nemesis, HX, both literally and figuratively. (Note the streamlined cover.) Didn't make it to the relaunch gala last night at Splash (did any of you go?), but have read the new book will feature "larger and more colorful Scene & Heard" section (always my favorite), plus a new feature called What’s Now Next, which will shed light on some of the hottest up-and-coming people, places and products in gay New York. While it's sad that the market for gay rags -- and all print media -- is shrinking before our eyes, here's wishing Next much success as they forge ahead into the new decade. Below is an excerpt from the new issue's main feature: Justin Ocean’s exploration of New York’s newest gay tech trend/obsession, Grindr, which I blogged about ... in March.
