Drop/Add?

OK, so I should admit that I watched it in the midst of a horrible tooth ache (second root canal went sour, the oral drama never ends around here, but I thought everything was better on Vicodin). But even so, I kid you not when I say I sat through the entire first episode of NBC's highly touted new comedy "Community," and I did not laugh once. I love Joel McHale and I'm reminding myself that pilots are busy setting things up, so I will watch it another time or two to see if it gets any better. But I can already tell you that if John Oliver -- whose on-set appearances on "The Daily Show" have gone from not funny to cringe-inducing, forcing me to fast-forward through them now -- is going to be a regular on the show, I'm likely dropping out. (And I assumed Chevy Chase was going to be the sticking point.) Really disappointed because I was sure this was going to be my new "sitcom." Did anyone else think it was funny?

I saw a screener and was perplexed by the positive buzz. It's a contrived, forced piece of shit. Nothing redeeming. Even the awkward PARKS & RECREATION is soooo much funnier. I actually like P&R now.

Drop. The only redeeming character on this show for me is the weird Arab kid. He got me to laugh once at the end of the show with his joke about being deaf.

The first episode of any series I might watch, I always ask myself, "could they make it through 2 seasons?"

This one is definitely a no.

I really thought it was hilarious! Seriously! I was constantly laughing!
When I was watching it, I had a gut feeling that it would not reach many people. I know it won't last long. I love Joel McHale too! Have you seen him in standup? I highly recommend it!!!

It's a weird show, and I didn't laugh, either. Too bad, coz I love McHale.

You can't create a comedy around a place where none of the characters want to be there.

You can't create a comedy where everyone, including the faculty, is as dumb as dirt. (Really? His friend traded the final exams for a car? I don't buy it. Really? He's a disbarred attorney who's trying for an associate's degree only? I don't buy it.

The only way this show will work is if they introduce a state board who visits and questions the accreditation of the college. That way, all the characters have to work together against a common enemy. Right now, there is no enemy except the writers.
