With the Academy Awards fast approaching, I just got tickets to see "The Wrestler" tonight. I didn't really "buy" the romance in "Slumdog Millionaire" (it was too "Titanic" for me -- and these people don't even know each other), but I still thought it was a good film. I'm hoping for more tonight, though.

I completely agree re: Slumdog Millionaire. The boy and the girl hang out for a few days when he's about 8 years old, and he feels honor-bound to her the rest of her life? Nope -- not buying it. Plus, he's a dog and she grows up stunningly beautiful. Too Hollywood for me.
GOD, I LEFT out the part about her being WAY TOO PRETTY but thank you for saying it!!! I wasn't in the mood (for once) to be crucified for my "shallowness."
Sacrilege! Slumdog was beautiful, not literal, and the acting was out of this world. I'll see The Wrestler eventually, too, but it better be good—I'm biased against gay-slurring Rourke.
I agree with your assessment. I did not believe the romance. If they focused on strengthening the romance, it would have been better. I guess.
The boy is totally hot. He could hide behind my shower curtain anytime. dbphx
