Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to my new BFF, Scott Prendergast, whose debut film, "Kabluey," just got a great review in The New York Times! (One might even call it "rave"-ish!) I saw this indie "melan-comedy" a couple of weeks ago and found it to be fun and oddly endearing. Scott -- who wrote, directed and starred -- shines as the hapless Salman, a hopelessly unemployed man-child who comes to "help out" his brother's distraught wife (the always-wonderful Lisa Kudrow) and two wild young sons when his brother's National Guard service is extended in Iraq. Things take a funny and surprisingly poignant turn when Salman goes to work as the giant blue mascot at the failing Internet company where his sister-in-law also works.
"Kabluey" opens July 4 in Manhattan; July 11 in Los Angeles; July 25 in Austin, Texas; and Aug. 1 in San Francisco. Check back on the official site to see if it's coming to a theater near you.

I'm glad you liked it, too! And Mr. Prendergast was fun to talk to. I look forward to his next project.
I love that Christine Taylor looks more like Marcia Brady in my mind than Maureen McCormick ever did -- kind of like when Cher guest-starred...
