I've Got the Power!

(EDITOR'S NOTE: This post was written by guest blogger Frank Anthony Polito.)

Remember that early '90s song by Snap!? That's how I feel right about now with this whole franQ in the (347) blog thing.

Back at good old Wayne State, Craig and I appeared in a production of Alice in Wonderland as (bet you can't guess!) the Brothers Tweedle... I was "Dee" and he was "Dum"--at least that's how I remember it! Somewhere I have pictures which I will have to a) find, then b) scan, but I think they will be worth viewing!

Our director, a guy by the name of Vince Scott who I distinctly remember as being 28 ("sooo old!") at the time got it into his head he wanted to revamp the Lewis Carroll classic, so he a) added muscial numbers, and b) made Dee and Dum rap to "The Walrus and the Carpenter." You should have seen the reaction when they bussed in the "inner city" kids for the student matinee!

But the piece de resistance had to be Kirk Diedrich as (get this) The Queen of Hearts. I will never forget "her" entrance during the croquet game singing "I've got the power!" With Thad S. Avery as the meek King of Hearts following behind echoing "Power!"

Since I'm assuming most of you don't know Kirk, he's a big guy... And he makes one heck of an ugly woman! I'll have to see if I can find/scan that picture of him all dolled up in drag.

That said... I need to go and find some pics of some HOT guys! (not that I'm saying Kirk's not "hot," don't misinterpret me.)

I love me some SNAP! Two Snaps Up. RIAD is one of my all-time favorite songs. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Playing the music now.

You're welcome... I totally forgot that SNAP also gave us "Rhythym is a Dancer." Ah, the '90s!
