Page 1 Consider (03/19)

  • Gold Mine: That scumbag Joe Francis hasn't been out of jail for 10 minutes and now he's already landed on another pot of gold? Eliot Spitzer hooker Ashley Alexandra Dupre (aka Kristen) apparently got nekkid for "Girls Gone Wild" as an 18-year-old partyer in Miami. (Didn't he already luck out with the whole FDNY Michael Biserta scandal?) (AP)

  • Sex Tape and the City: Meanwhile, another Kristin -- Davis, aka Charlotte York on "Sex and the City" -- has her reps denying that a sex tape with a suspiciously similar-looking woman is the real deal. (AccessHollywood)

  • Heartburn: Criticize people who stray from their lovers all you want (our old gov, our new gov), humans (apparently) were not created to be faithful. (NYT)

  • Amazing Grays: I thought Barack Obama's speech yesterday was eloquent, heartfelt and moving. As a civil rights speech I give it a 10. As a political speech? The jury is still out. But I think Maurren Dowd is on to something with this assessment: The candidate may have staunched the bleeding, but he did not heal the wounds. His naive and willful refusal to come to terms earlier with the Rev. Wright’s anti-American, anti-white and pro-Farrakhan sentiments -- echoing his naive and willful refusal to come to terms earlier with the ramifications of his friendship with sleazy fundraiser Tony Rezko -- will not be forgotten because of one unforgettable speech. (Maureen Dowd) (The full transcript can be read here.)

  • Crime and Punishment: In Austin, Texas, a veteran police commander has been suspended for 20 days for demonstrating "personal bias" toward gay officers and a second commander who did not report the remark and then refused to take a suspension for it has been fired. (365Gay)

  • Hybrid Cats: And I thought Larry was a handful. (CNN)

  • AARPresident: That John McCain doesn't know a Sunni from a hole in his ass. (Naturally that traitor Joe Lieberman was the one who bailed him out) (Reuters)

  • Another Tale From the City: Since Saturday’s collapse of a towering construction crane on the East Side of Manhattan, attention has understandably focused on the central and spectacular details, on the lives lost, the 22-story crane that toppled, the building that was demolished. But in New York’s tightly packed urban grid, even a calamity of such magnitude may be punctuated with sights that people find curious and strange. (NYT)

  • RIP: Oscar-winning writer/director Anthony Minghella ("The English Patient" and "The Talented Mr. Ripley") has died at 54 years of age of a brain hemorrhage after a medical procedure to treat tonsil cancer. (FilmExperience)

So you will post a link to Maureen Dowd's hack piece, but not to Obama's speech?

Wow. Some of you Obama supporters really are paranoid freaks, aren't you?!!! There's a link "to the full transcript" as plain as day on that point, Joe. What's with the chip on the shoulder???

You're right, there is the speech link. My mistake. Apologies. And since you had to bring out name calling, let me add, it gets tiring to hear from pundits/reporters/columnists that will tear a candidate down when they are favored, then wait for a comeback when they are torn down, then go back for more blood when they're favored again. And it's annoying when apathetic and lazy bloggers like you actually bring attention to people like Maureen Dowd. Chip on my shoulder? Not at all. I'm just tired of lazy, status quo writing and and reporting and old school politics and the people who champion it. Like you. And I'm saying it.

(It will be interesting to see if you put my name-calling comment up with yours)

a $28,000 hybrid cat? plus a $1500 delivery fee. isn't that what the Toyota Prius costs? wait! destination fees for the Prius are only $815. just how much mileage does this cat get?

I love how Comment Moderation always makes people who disagree with me DARE ME to post their comments (oooh, so scary!!!). (If you hadn't said that I probably would have deleted it and crawled into a hole).

So just so I'm clear: anyone who doesn't endorse the same candidate that you do is guilty of being "lazy," "going for blood" and of "status quo writing and reporting"? (So much for the First Amendment or democracy at all!)

If someone who raves about Obama's speech and says he'd be more happy than to have him as the Democratic nominee (I just prefer Clinton) is lumped together with people who are "tearing him down" then what do you have lined up for people who actually dislike him? (Paid assassins?)

I'm just glad you took the time to clarify how NOT defensive you are :-)

Hey KW, you were fair about the Obama-gate post. Obama showed really poor judgment (or should we call it political inexperience?) in putting the racist pastor in his campaign and now he is suffering from it (which had nothing to do with you so the Obama supporters should not take their anger/frustration out on you). Obama may get the Dem nomination but he has already lost the election with en eloquent but flawed speech (it was essentially a guilty with an excuse speech that seemed really contrived at times).

I still think Obama has an outstanding chance of winning the White House, but you could be right. As for the speech sounding "contrived" at times, I think that was a byproduct of having to walk through a huge field of land minds to make sure he told it straight, but didn't offend any particular group. I really thought he was dead-on in the substance department.

If you're curious about a call girl's life you can read my blog. One thing that concerns me about this life is a fear of being 'outed,' the way "Kristen" has been. Most escorts advertising on the Internet are more likely to be outed by their own clients (the ones who write reviews of their experiences with prostitutes on local message boards and blogs). For most of us, not linked with some powerful/celebrity figure, that is bad news. Family, friends, and co-workers discovering I'm an escort would be devastating.
