Federer Casts a Long Shadow

It what is the becoming standard operating procedure, Roger Federer was challenged early in the match (in this case yesterday's U.S. Open final), only to have his opponent (Andy Roddick) finally cave in to Federer's overall superiority. You gotta hand it to Andy for giving it everything he had, but it truly must be frustrating to come up with so much good tennis only to still find yourself deep in a hole and no (winning) end in sight. By winning his third straight Open, Roger reversed Justine Henin-Hardenne's year by making the final of all four Grand Slam events and winning three, losing only the French. Another stellar year for the Swiss Master.
