Ave Maria!

What a thrill watching Maria Sharapova play so brilliantly against Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final of last night's U.S. Open. Having reached the final of all four Grand Slam events, Justine's year was undeniably great. Yet seeing her be so completely outclassed against Sharapova made me almost wonder if her career has hit a Hingis fork in the road where she can beat the Big Babes sometimes, but no longer has what it takes to beat two or three in one tournament, hence her losing record in finals.

Martina Navratilova called it a career with one more Grand Slam title to her name, winning the mixed doubles with Bob Bryan. What a fitting ending to what has to be considered the most impressive tennis career of all time.
