Roddick + Connors = Trouble

I can see why people would think the Andy Roddick-Jimmy Connors pairing would be a good idea, but I smell disaster. The thing that Jimmy specializes in just happens to be what Andy needs least: cockiness and swagger. I predict it won't be long before they disagree on something and things end ugly. (AP)

I agree for the most part, and I would add that Connors proudly proclaimed a year or two ago that he hadn't watched a pro match in decades. (Huh?)

But I would submit that (a) coaching changes tend to include a powerful placebo effect, so it can't be ruled out that this will work for no logical reason, and (b) Andy at least did seem to be standing less than 75 yards behind the baseline on a surprising number of points Sunday -- and that's an area Connors knows a little bit about.
