Remains of the Day (04/09)

The two were identified, according to the affidavit, after a co-worker of Hunter Seefried told the FBI that Hunter had “bragged about being in the Capitol with his father on January 6, 2021.

Is there no middle ground between executing someone for pretending to honk a sleeping woman’s boobs and this?!!!

Speaking of Gaetz: He is awful and deserves to be prosecuted for whichever laws he broke, but a few points: The Daily Beast embarrassingly referred to one of his alleged sex partners as someone "whose name we are withholding" because she had only turned 18 six months BEFORE the encounter. (Um, there's an age of consent for a reason -- you don't get to try to make it seem worse than it is with moralizing judgments like this.) Secondly, I'm not sure the intent of the sex-trafficking law was (or should have been) your own sex partners. Lastly, if the women whose Seeking Arrangement ads Gaetz and friend Joel Greenberg were responding to were of age, aren't we getting into "shaming sex workers and their johns" grounds here? If the men misused funds to pay for these encounters, that's a problem. But not if they paid with their own money. Just wish people would focus on the actual issues here -- there seem to be plenty of them without piling on.

Sen. Ben Sasse (R., Neb.) dismissed the commission as a pointless exercise. “President Biden knows that he doesn’t even have the votes in his own party to pack the court; he knows that court packing is a nonstarter with the American people; and he knows that this commission’s report is just going to be a taxpayer-funded door stopper,” he said.

"breaking up another moralizing evangelical politician’s marriage by causing them have affairs somehow"

Peace on Earth

As always, guns are used to win arguments and settle scores -- not self-protection

I guess we just have to be thankful he wasn't packing heat

It's hard to put into words how far off Manchin's way of looking at things is

The additional funding would ensure that workforce complaints -- “including those related to white supremacy or ideological and non-ideological beliefs” -- are investigated quickly, according to a summary of Biden’s budget proposal.

These two make me proud to be an American (again)

Wait, what is the "joke"? That thing's as serious as a heart attack
