'Florent: Queen of the Meat Market'

As disappointed as I was to see the historic Empire Diner close in Chelsea, it paled in comparison to the sadness I felt two years ago when the end was announced for Florent, the legendary tranny-friendly diner in the Meatpacking District. In addition to having far superior food -- the baked macaroni and cheese with ham and the mussels were my standards -- Florent became the epicenter of LGBT nightlife and activism in its 23 years of business, and was my end-up of choice after long, drunken nights at Hell, Jackie 60 and the Lure. Director David Sigal pays homage to this famed eatery with his new documentary, "Florent: Queen of the Meat Market," which will premiere Thursday, June 24, at the NYC Food Film Fest. Let Julianne Moore, Isaac Mizrahi, Michael Musto and other famous (and infamous) faces take you on a fantastic voyage to New York City's legendary Florent diner.
Tickets are available HERE, and include a one-night-only chance to sample a selection of original menu items from Florent prepared by the man behind the beloved restaurant, Mr. Florent Morellet himself.
