Kids' Choice Awards

*THIS POST IS BEING MADE BY GUEST-BLOGGER, FRANK ANTHONY POLITO

To be honest, I wouldn't even know about the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards if it weren't for my recent obsession with discovery of Degrassi: The Next Generation on The N, where the KCA's have been touted for the past few weeks.

Click here for a list of winners... While I'm not a viewer of her TV show, i carly, I've recently been turned on to Miranda Cosgrove's "About You Now," by my housemate, Dan, who tells me is a cover of the BRIT-award nominated/Cathy Dennis penned single by the Sugababes. (Where was I in 2007?)

Anthony, what you've been missing! Degrassi has been on for literally DECADES and is such an excellent show. They've explored serious and timely topics (teenage pregnancy, gay issues, drugs etc.) in a way that American TV couldn't even touch since the series began.

This recent series on the N network is of course the second (or third depending on how you look at it) incarnation of the show which started all the way back in 1979 with Degrassi Street. Many of the actors from Degrassi High now star as adults in the current show. I've always appreciated how they could look at serious subjects facing teens without sensationalizing and overdramatizing things.

Welcome to Degrassi mania.

You have to check out the snarky Degrassi fan site, Boycott the Caf.

It's written by two American straight guys in their late-20s who love Degrassi. It's absolutely hysterical and has essential episode recaps.
