Sad news to report about the former first cat Socks. It seems the furry fella whom the Clintons dumped for Buddy the dog back when -- by far the worst thing they did during their eight years in office IMHO -- has cancer and is not expected to make it. (Poor cutie.) Happily, Socks -- who is now an adorable 19 years old -- has long been living "the good life" in Southern Maryland with former Clinton secretary Betty Currie, to whom he became attached while living in the West Wing. Currie has been in the news lately herself as a volunteer member of Barack Obama's transition team.
