Song of the Day: 'St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)' by John Parr
This song and Rob Lowe's explanation of the weather phenomenon known as St. Elmo's Fire were the only things that didn't work in the 1985 film of the same time.
But now that the Royal Air Force’s 99 Squadron released a video showing the fork-shaped discharge of atmospheric electricity, it seemed only fair to acknowledge them both ...
P.S.
Did you hear that 70-year-old "Love Theme" composer and GOP donor David Foster is about to be a father again?

Rob Lowe's 'Finest Hour'?
Anyone care to explain to me how I missed Rob Lowe as a Navy SEAL with a mustache in a flick set against the backdrop of the Gulf War?
Plot: Macho Lawrence 'Larry' Hammer and frailer(!) Dean Mazzoli initially rival as U.S. Navy SEAL trainees, but become buddies in instructor chief petty officer Bosco's merciless training class. The friends date two girls, but both love Barbara, who chooses to marry Larry, as ideal father for her pre-teen son. After graduation from Basic UDT/SEAL training, they choose opposite oceans for further training. However Sadam Husein's invasion of Kuwait gets both mobilized in the same unit, with Bosco, who gets captured and tortured. Dean learns Barbara has left adulterer Larry. They mount a rescue together, taking risks even on their own side.

Rob Lowe, Shirtless at 51
I have to say the Brat Pack hunk doesn't look much different than he did in tighty-whities -- and a jockstrap -- back in 1980s HERE.

The Lowe Down on Madonna
I think the New York Post got its headline backward, but the details of the stars' meeting -- she spotted him in the front row of a concert and invited him backstage; he had just finished filming "St. Elmo's Fire" -- and their later attempt at doing it -- Madonna wanted to dance at Palladium, Rob wanted to avoid being mobbed by fans -- is just part of what's coming in Lowe's second memoir, "Love Life."
Pre-order "Love Life" HERE.
Lowe is coming to Midtown to sign copies of his book on April 9 at Barnes & Noble on Fifth Avenue.
