Song of the Day: 'St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)' by John Parr

This song and Rob Lowe's explanation of the weather phenomenon known as St. Elmo's Fire were the only things that didn't work in the 1985 film of the same time.

But now that the Royal Air Force’s 99 Squadron released a video showing the fork-shaped discharge of atmospheric electricity, it seemed only fair to acknowledge them both ...

P.S.

Did you hear that 70-year-old "Love Theme" composer and GOP donor David Foster is about to be a father again?

Rob Lowe's 'Finest Hour'?

Anyone care to explain to me how I missed Rob Lowe as a Navy SEAL with a mustache in a flick set against the backdrop of the Gulf War?

Plot: Macho Lawrence 'Larry' Hammer and frailer(!) Dean Mazzoli initially rival as U.S. Navy SEAL trainees, but become buddies in instructor chief petty officer Bosco's merciless training class. The friends date two girls, but both love Barbara, who chooses to marry Larry, as ideal father for her pre-teen son. After graduation from Basic UDT/SEAL training, they choose opposite oceans for further training. However Sadam Husein's invasion of Kuwait gets both mobilized in the same unit, with Bosco, who gets captured and tortured. Dean learns Barbara has left adulterer Larry. They mount a rescue together, taking risks even on their own side.

Rob Lowe Is GQ's 'How To' Look Younger Man

Like fellow GQ cover man Ryan Reynolds, Rob Lowe is older but still HOT. But with a face like that, you've got a 10-mile lead on everyone else in the race.

Rob Lowe, Shirtless at 51

I have to say the Brat Pack hunk doesn't look much different than he did in tighty-whities -- and a jockstrap -- back in 1980s HERE.

Rob Lowe Flaunts His Beach Bod in Hawaii

Hey, he may not be the head of the Class anymore, but Rob Lowe could still light my St. Elmo's Fire any day of the week.

The Lowe Down on Madonna

I think the New York Post got its headline backward, but the details of the stars' meeting -- she spotted him in the front row of a concert and invited him backstage; he had just finished filming "St. Elmo's Fire" -- and their later attempt at doing it -- Madonna wanted to dance at Palladium, Rob wanted to avoid being mobbed by fans -- is just part of what's coming in Lowe's second memoir, "Love Life."

Pre-order "Love Life" HERE.

Lowe is coming to Midtown to sign copies of his book on April 9 at Barnes & Noble on Fifth Avenue.

Lowe and Behold

Here's another photo Annie Leibowitz shot for Rob Lowe's Vanity Fair cover story, which is actually an excerpt from his soon-to-be-released memoir, "Stories I Only Tell My Friends." The laborious auditioning process for "The Outsiders" he writes about is fascinating stuff -- and only has me wanting to read more, like what went on during the filming of "St. Elmo's Fire" and the 1988 sex tape.
Lowe is every bit as sexy at 47 as he was in his 20s, but even when his looks fade, he's already lined up two successors. Those are sons Johnowen, 15, and Matthew, 17, waiting in the wings., although there'll only ever really be one true Youngblood for me ...

Youngblood

A stunningly handsome Rob Lowe gets all deep and philosophical about acting and his pal Francis Ford Coppola, like it matters what he's saying. (Via Interview)

Brat Pack-Wood: Rob Lowe

It's been nearly 25 years since I went to see "Class" at the AMC Lakeshore midnight movie and I'm still convinced that Rob Lowe entered into a pact with the Devil to be this gorgeous. I remember a few years later going to see "... About Last Night" in the movie theater repeatedly. The scene where he runs out to get the newspaper in his tighty whities made me long for another paper route -- and his late-night nekkid visit to the refrigerator was enough to make me consider eating. Rob turns 42 in March and is married with kids now -- but he's as handsome as ever.
