Song of the Day: 'Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)' by Nancy Sinatra

There's a thread going around ON TWITTER  about covers that are better than the originals.("Crimson and Clover" by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts is always my go-to, followed by Bananarama's "Venus.") "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down" was Cher's second solo single -- and a fine one at that. I never even knew Frank's daughter had covered it until Damian mentioned it to me -- I'm not a Quentin Tarantino's person, so had no idea about is inclusion on the "Kill Bill Volume 1" soundtrack -- but I must confess it does give Ms. Sarkisian-Bono-Allman's original a run for its money.

Wikipedia notes that Nance's version also was the theme for BBC coverage of the 2005 Wimbledon tennis championships, and has been sampled on several hip-hop recordings, including the Audio Bullys' hit "Shot You Down" in 2005.

Song of the Day: 'These Boots Are Atomic' by Blondie and Nancy Sinatra

Not really a traditional mashup -- it's just Nancy's video set to Debbie song -- but I can take yes for an answer!
