Song of the Day: 'Heaven Is a Place on Earth' by Belinda Carlisle
I'm not a sci-fi guy. But Damian has been dying for me to watch the "'80s episode" of "Black Mirror" for months -- and now that "San Junipero" won an Emmy, I did just that. (Loved it -- and it was the best use of Belinda Carlisle's music ever!)

Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda's '9 to 5' Emmys Reunion
Was traveling home yesterday from a wedding in the Carolinas -- they make you arrive two hours early, wait in security for four then delayed my 1.5-hour flight another half-dozen -- so am just now seeing this. But it had to have been the highlight of last night's Emmy Awards! Watch HERE.
UPDATE:
And what about THIS?!

I didn't watch the Emmys, of course, but just hearing that Julie Louis-Dreyfus beat out Lisa Kudrow again tells me everything I need to know. We rewatched "The Broken Hearts Club" and it was as just as sweet as I remembered. Kudos, Greg Berlanti!

A Netflix Royal Flush
Online series 'House of Cards' makes Emmy history with best drama nod, 8 other bids
Looks like Netflix's plan to compete in the world of original programming is paying off:
The Associated Press reports:
Netflix's "House of Cards" made Emmy history Thursday with a top drama series nomination, the first time that television's top awards have recognized a program delivered online as equal in quality to the best that TV has to offer.
The nomination, one of nine nods earned by the political thriller, is a marker in the unfolding revolution in how we get and watch video entertainment. The most Emmy nominations, 17, went to "American Horror Story: Asylum." Close behind was "Game of Thrones" with 16 nods, while "Saturday Night Live" and the Liberace biopic "Behind the Candelabra" earned 15 nominations each, including nods for stars Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.
Another Netflix series, "Arrested Development," didn't earn a best comedy series but scored three nominations, including one for star Jason Bateman. Joining "House of Cards" and "Game of Thrones" in the best drama series category are "Breaking Bad," ''Downton Abbey," ''Mad Men" and last year's winner, "Homeland." The major broadcast networks were shut out of the prestigious category, a repeat of last year and a particular blow with the entry of Netflix's streamed drama. In the comedy series category, nominees are "The Big Bang Theory," ''Girls," ''Louie," ''Modern Family," ''Veep" and "30 Rock," recognized for its final season. Another outgoing comedy, "The Office," didn't receive a best series nod.Look for "Orange Is the New Black" to do well next year.
Complete list of nominations HERE.
