Titles for Alcaraz, Korda, Etcheverry and Pegula. Full report plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.
Red-hot Carlos Alcaraz defeated Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-1 in the Qatar final. The world No. 1 secured the victory in just 50 minutes, marking the shortest completed match of his career and extending his unbeaten start to the 2026 season to 12-0. And though he lost, kudos to Fils for coming back so strong after being away with an injury -- and to Jakub Mensik, who stunned Jannik Sinner in the quarters. Might the (latest) stranglehold on the major come to an end sooner than later?
Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten won the Qatar doubles title by defeating Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool 6–3, 6–3 in the final.
So happy I caught Tomas Etcheverry capture his first career title by beating Alejandro Tabilo 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 in the Rio Open final. Not only did he come back from a set and a break down, he also had to finish his epic semifinal beforehand -- versus hot-Czech-I'd-never-heard-of Vit Kopriva, winning four of five sets in one day!
In the 2026 Rio men's doubles final, 42-year-old Marcelo Melo teamed up with 19-year-old João Fonseca to win the title, defeating Constantin Frantzen and Robin Haase 4–6, 6–3, [10–8]. And then some bald guy presented the trophy.
Back in the U.S., perennially injured Sebastian Korda stayed fit long enough to defeat Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-3 to win the Delray Beach Open championship.
Tommy's best days seem to be behind him, but not in the Looks Department.
Austin Krajicek and Nikola Mektić won the men's doubles title in Delray Beach, knocking out the American pair Benjamin Kittay and Ryan Seggerman in a closely contested final, 6–7, 6–3, [11–9]
On the women's side: Jessica Pegula easily dismissed Elina Svitolina 6–2, 6–4 to capture the title in Dubai.
This victory marked Pegula's 10th career WTA singles crown and her fourth at the WTA 1000 level. The win was particularly significant as it ended a streak of seven consecutive semifinal appearances without a title for the world No. 5.
