Remains of the Day (12/12)

KJM: Another fantastic piece by Kevin Jack McEnroe. I wasn't sure why I've been drawn to his work but now I'm realizing it's a combination of reasons. I have always bristled at the mention of addiction -- somehow my brothers and I were just supposed to "get over" having no father as little boys just because someone used the magic word -- yet I'm finding Kevin's writing about the topic to be revelatory and helpful, as well as entertaining. Note: It couldn't be any more obvious who his mother and father are in this photo from his recent wedding, and not just because they're the most famous faces. The Scandal stepmom too cannot conceal the walls of heartache.

Dallas Voice: Arlington Pride 2026 canceled following City Council vote to scrap LGBTQ protections. Everything is bigger in Texas, including homophobia.

Saturday 'StacheA quarterback and a tight end ...

ESPN: Absolutely heartbroken for Jason Collins, who has penned a moving essay about his terminal brain cancer diagnosis. His bravery in coming out as the first "big four" team athlete meant the world to me and many others. Here's hoping his battle carries on for a long time to come.

DM: Interesting to read that Cher got Chaz Bono's permission to "dead name" him in her memoirs. Ironically, Mom refers to him as Chas -- not Chastity -- so it must sound exactly the same on the audiobook! Happy to hear that her other son, Elijah Blue Allman, has recovered from a recent overdose. What a nightmare.

Hot Cat of the Day: Looks familiar!
