Leaders Commemorate 9/11 at Ground Zero

President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and a nearly 80-year-old angry narcissist all gathered in New York City this morning to mark the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Because one of them decided in 2021 to end our nation's rich history of a peaceful transfer of power, this meeting at Ground Zero was noteworthy since it was the first time they were ever all together.

On a personal note: I'm coming to terms with the reality that at my age there is an entire generation -- and another right behind -- who wasn't even alive when the most monumental world event of my life took place. (How can Sept. 11 have been 23 years ago?)

That day we lost our David -- he and my friend Ken were both pilots for American Airlines -- but he is never far from our thoughts. Ken and I talked about him in June when I visited Paris -- where both of them planned to retire -- and we imagined what his neighboring apartment would look like if he were alive today. It may have been more than two decades ago, but it can still hurt as if it were yesterday. xo

President Biden:
On this day 23 years ago, terrorists believed they could break our will and bring us to our knees -- they were wrong.

In the darkest of hours, we found light.

That is why terrorists targeted us in the first place: Our freedom, our democracy, our unity.

David was first officer on American Flight 77. Remember the crew from all four flights HERE.
