Weekend Tennis Roundup

Titles for Medvedev, Fritz, Alcaraz and Swiatek, plus all the ATP beef that's fit to post BELOW.

Daniil Medvedev cemented his return to the Top 10 in the ATP Rankings by continuing his domination of Jannik Sinner on Sunday at the ABN AMRO Open, where the sixth seed completed a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory in the championship match. He's not 6 and 0 in the duo's head-to-head.

Carlos Alcaraz went more than three months without a competitive match as he recovered from abdominal and hamstring injuries. This week at the Argentina Open, it looked like the Spaniard had never left. In his tournament debut, the World No. 2 overwhelmed second seed Cameron Norrie 6-3, 7-5 on Sunday to claim his seventh ATP Tour title and his first since last year's U.S. Open.

After a hiccup in the second set, Taylor Fritz captured Delray Beach Open title, beating Miomir Kecmanovic 6-0, 5-7, 6-2. It was the department store heir's fifth ATP Tour title and first of 2023. Four of those trophies have come in the past 12 months, beginning with Fritz's Indian Wells triumph last March. Fritz now enters the Top 5 in the ATP rankings, although he sure doesn't look like a Top 5 player to me.

World No.1 Iga Swiatek successfully defended her title at the Qatar Open on Saturday, sweeping past fourth-ranked Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-0 in the Doha final. It feels like the Pole's brain is the only thing standing between her and total domination.

If this is what being a loser looks like, I think Cam will live

Taylor's modeling career I buy

Another painful reminder of how hot Stefanos could look if he cut his hair like his brother

Denis on top!

Matija Pecotic had a fun run in Delray Beach. The 33-year-old Sebian-born Croatian real-estate broker who grew up in Malta with a tennis side hustle beat Stefan Kozlov and Tennys Sandgren to qualify for the ATP event, then knocked out former top-10 player Jack Sock in the first round, before losing to Marcos Giron in the round of 16. His biggest tennis claim to fame hitherto was being selected by Novak Djokovic as a practice partner because of his Nadal-like lefty strokes!

When you're right, you're right

πŸ’“πŸ’“πŸ’“

Ooh la la: Quentin Halys

Like Novak, Carlitos has a much hotter brother -- albeit with a private IG

P.S.
