Quote of the Day

Call it impassioned hyperbole -- or the stupidest thing anyone's ever said -- but when
when a 27-year-old pedophile in Queens, N.Y., who molested children then shared photos of his disgusting acts with other sickos on the Internet was being sentenced, here's what the prosecuting attorney had to say about it:

“This (defendant’s) crimes are far worse than some who commit homicides,” Assistant Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Michael Canty said.

Really? Try telling that to the families of Danielle Van Dam, Etan Patz, Adam Walsh, the victims of the Oakland County child killer, the victims of the Atlanta child killer and the thousands of others who have been abducted and murdered.

I don't know about this one. Had one of the men who sexually abused me as a child also killed me I would not have had to live with the PTSD, BPD, clinical depression, anxiety disorder, and OCD they left me with or the horrible self-esteem, the suicidal impulses that I fought through my mid-thirties and other lingering effects that stay with you decades later. Right now I'm glad to be alive and have managed a way to navigate the landmines the abuse left and only wish death on those predators (sometimes. Depends when you ask me) but I can still see that prosecutor's point.
