This ad is all over the city, yet for the life of me I could not tell you what it was for. Then yesterday, my friend Scooter took Michael and me into Uniqlo in SoHo so he could buy some T-shirts. It was there that I saw this poster inside, and found out the ad says "UJ" on it (not that you can really tell it's a J) for Uniqlo Jeans. From what I gather, Uniqlo is a discount Japanese retailer that is sort of equal parts Old Navy and H&M, the main difference being that we actually saw some stuff we liked. Michael bought a gingham button-down, and I got a new tie. It seems the New York store is the only one in America. And while I think it's kinda fun, something about the company's complete inability to brand itself tells me U.S. domination isn't likely in the cards.Friday, April 16, 2010
