Birthday Boy

Misters Bubble: With Jay in an ex's hot tub in Sea Girt, New Jersey, back in February 1999

I want to wish my dear friend Jay Shows a very happy birthday today! Jay was one of the first people I met when I moved to New York back in 1998. For whatever reason, I used to trek up to the Works each Thursday night (I think it was dollar margaritas or something awful like that) and I'd see him there every time I'd go. After being casually introduced to one another repeatedly I'd finally had enough of pretending like we'd never met and I pulled him aside and said, "Look. Do you wanna be best friends or not?" He kind of shrugged and I dragged him to a party that night and the rest is history. The bar-hopping years, the broken-hearted years, the happily married years. After moving downtown for a few years we started to be able to spend quite a bit of time together. I miss those days. But even though he's way Uptown -- and happily paired to a guy I adore -- these days, every time we get together it's like a day never went by. That's how I know he'll always be a part of my life. So happy birthday, Jay. You haven't changed a bit, and that's exactly how I like you ...

The best type of friends are those that you don't have to see or talk to everyday. After time lapses and you see them again, you pick up where you left off. He sounds like a good egg. :-)

Kenneth you're the type of friend I have here in LA. You might not see each other a lot, even if you live in the same city, but when you connect it's like you never left each other.

Hope best friend cute friend who's moving to NYC at the end of this year gets to meet friends like me and you in Manhattan.
