Don't buy a sneaker just for the brand, especially if it may not be the right fit for you. Go to Jack Rabbit on 14th Street - you can try on sneakers and they'll analyze your footfall to determine the right sneakers for you...
Why are you listening to this stylist if they are making you spend so much money on things you don't actually like? If you wouldn't buy it yourself, then it's not a style that fits your life.
