Paris A Go-Go

Belinda Carlisle performed on New Year's Eve in downtown Los Angeles at the Disney Concert Hall with Rufus Wainwright. Here are two reviews from people who attended the event that I would have killed to have rung in the new year at!

Scotty: Belinda was AMAZING! She started out singing "Sous Le Ciel De Paris" and then she did another one that I didn't recognize but Gabe says was off of VOILA! as well (which all the songs were). We were 2nd row center and directly in front of her. She looked really good, however when she came out and started singing she was visibly nervous. So nervous in fact that her hand was shaking which we all noticed at the same time. I felt sorry for her and wanted to hug her! POOR BEL!!!! After the first two songs she really warmed up though and I was in awe. It was one of those performances where you rekindle the love you have for an artist and realize why you have loved them for as long as you have. She then did "Avec Le Temps" and "La Vie En Rose" and they sounded spectacular but the song that brought down the house was "Jezebel". I know we have made fun of that song but when she belted it out and the "whore dancers" came out twisting and gyrating it was kick-ass! I don't know if it was the acoustics of the place or what but these songs showed her range like you wouldn't believe. Then Rufus came out and did like five songs that put everyone to sleep. Then he re-introduced Belinda and they did "Bonnie et Clyde" together. It was good but Rufus ruined it for me. I don't get his appeal. Before they sang "Bonnie et Clyde" Belinda said that she never makes it through a show with her shoes on and then she lifted her long pants and showed off some fabulous strappy shoes and asked the audience if she should take them off and everyone laughed and said "YES". She then sat on a barstool and Rufus took off her shoes for her. It was great. Then for the last song Belinda said that she also never done a show where she doesn't sing this last song and we can all sing along with her in English but she will be doing it in French. It was "Our Lips Are Sealed" and it was very fun.

Tyler: Here is my full report! as promised. The Disney Concert Hall was so beautiful last night. the stage was all done up like a french cafe with red lush carpet and huge red velvet sofas and red velvet lamps. very beautiful stage. six guys played for Belinda with Violins. accordions, harps e.t.c. they played so beautiful. as we sat to wait for her to come out first show at 7 pm. they had french songs playing in the concert hall. i felt like it was all very special and french. the band played a beautiful song and then one of the guys introduced "The very talented and lovely Belinda Carlisle". this place is huge right and let me tell you....it was SOLD out! she came out in this hot looking black off the shoulder jump suit that was very chic and i was in the second row and she is really beautiful. her face is just as beautiful and ever and her body looked tight and worked out. she had on some high heels and her her hair up. her earrings were diamonds and simple but worth money! so she welcomes everyone and sayd happy news years in french and then she sang "Sous Le Ciel De Paris". ohmy god..i was a little scared for her. i wanted her no to forget the words or i just wanted it to be right but let me tell you this..she was flawless in her song. her vocals were so strong and she sang in french like it was her natural way. after the song she got this HUGE ovation and you could tell you she was happy with herself and amazed on everyone's reaction. she looked up and all around to see this sold out crowd for her! i knew it meant alot to her. then she sang what she said was her fav song on the cd "Avec Le Temps" all i can say is wow! i got chills it was the most beautiful, haunting love songs i have ever heard her sing live. she nailed this mofo! i have chills as i type this cos it was that good. we all stood up for her at the end. she got very emotinal as she sang thats one. she just has this voice that is so powerful and beautiful. nailed that one too as well as all of them. the one song that really took me away was "Jezebel" OMG! so these sassy french girl dancers came out and it could have been a video. the danced very sexy as she sang it. you know that last note at the end when she just belts out the name "jezebel"?? wow....it was awesome! after a few songs she introduced rufus wainwright and he was good. he said "wow, how can i follow that? : lmao! he was right...he did a few songs and then Belinda came out again and they did a duet on"Bonnie et Clyde" and it was fun. she asked the crowd if it was ok to take off these sexy high heels she had on and we all said yes. so Rufus says he will help her and as she sat on the chair he could not take them off. when he did get the first one off he held it and then put it up to his face and smelled it! lmao. too funny. she said he was her "new best friend". he then went on to say that she just "made him straight and was going to call her mother tomorrow" lol. they danced a little together and held one another. you could tell that they really did like one another. it was very nice to see. it's funny cos when she came out to sing...she stood in front of the microphone stand like it was going to be her place for the night. then as she got into it. she pulled that microphone out and went all around the stage with this smile. dancing away to the sexy french music. the very last song was too cool. she said "every show i have ever done never goes without me having to do this number. only tonight i am going to sing it in french" OMG..it was "our Lips Are sealed" !!!!!!! in french! Rufus stayed on stage with her and sang the jane part in french! such a amazing...special night. i will never ever forget it. i hope you post something about this on you're blog cos it was way too special to go unnoticed. i will try to send you a pic of the night i found on line.
