Most of my NYC photo albums have a few of these critters in them. One of my faves is this large, rather over grown Persian in the Village. He has his own pillow on the counter and glares at you as you approach the cashier. Thanks for sharing. T
I'm sure the New York Department of Health is going to have something to say about cats roaming in the bodegas. I don't know about anyone else out there but I'd rather have a cute little kitty running the shelves where food stuff is kept than some gross disease-infested rats. But still, the bureaucracy will try to shut this inexpensive and relatively safe alternative down.
Just as a qualifying statement here, when I was in the military we used cat to keep rats out field provisions. That seems to have worked fine there.

kitties just happened to be there,
they don't asked anything,
they're just trapped in this concretes and back alleys.
put yourself in these animals' situation. maybe,only then we'll know.
all they need is a little bit of your love(if you have one,that is).
