Nice interview with Kyle Chandler about his slow rise to fame, moving away from Hollywood and the final season of "Bloodline" (premieres Friday on Netflix) in The Wall Street Journal HERE.

‘Bloodline’ to Conclude With Season 3

It would figure that Netflix -- which has never canceled one of its original shows ever -- would choose the one that I've watched religiously to ax first. "Bloodline," which has an incredible cast including Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini and Sissy Spacek, doesn't sound like it's ending because of low ratings or lack of ideas -- and certainly not lack of acclaim. It sounds like Netflix is now in the same situation as regular networks, where money and licensing fees are becoming major factors in what stays and goes. The Hollywood Reporter has the full story HERE, although it won't make any more sense than what I just said. Perhaps I'll get lucky and "Bloodline" will pull a "Friday Night Lights" and wind up on another network ...

Song of the Day: 'The Water Lets You In ("Bloodline" theme)' by Book of Fears

As you may recall, Damian and I went against type and watched a fictional drama last year -- Netflix's "Bloodline." Although I found myself morphing into my parents -- who seemed to spend more time speculating about what was going to happen next than actually watching shows like this when I was a kid -- we couldn't deny being intrigued by the sudsy Southern mess the Rayburn clan was. Dove into the Season 2 premiere last night and I have to admit we'd have been well-advised to have rewatched Season 1 in its entirety -- things are that convoluted and a year is a long time away -- but would be lying if I didn't confess that they have already thrown out enough bread crumbs for me to want to see where this train is headed, a train I once thought had already reached its destination. Anyone else watching? The incredible cast including Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini, Chloe Sevigny and Sissy Spacek is reason enough to give it a chance.

'Friday Night Lights': Where Are They Now?

Interesting that from a show that had so many good-looking young actors, the two people who would go on to the most success after the series ended are the parents, played by Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton. Slideshow HERE.

Going for 'Bloodline'

Haven't watched an hourlong drama of this nature in ages -- if ever -- but "Bloodline" was worth the effort. Like most thrillers, it has its over-the-top moments. And there are lots of breadcrumbs being left on the trail when getting to the point would be so easy. And there was a lot of deliberate misleading. (I'm new to this, so it was a challenge at times.) But with an impeccable cast that includes Kyle Chandler (rocking a sexy ex-jock paunch), Linda Cardellini (Lindsay from "Freaks and Geeks"!), the always-great Chloe Sevigny, Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz (as the hot-headed brother) and the legendary Sissy Spacek, I really became invested in the Rayburn family and wanted to see where this story of family secrets and betrayals would take me.

Will a second season "work"? I don't really think it's necessary, but I'll still probably tune in to find out.

Coach Taylor Returns!

I'm a little skittish about hourlong dramas -- "Mad Men" nearly wipes me out each season -- but with a cast including Kyle Chandler and Sissy Spacek, Netflix's "Bloodline" might just be next on my TV roster. (Jacinda Barrett from the worst "Real World" season ever also stars!)  

'Friday Night' Alums, or 'From Dillon to Eternity'

   I was just telling a friend how surprising -- but completely correct -- it was that Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton seem to be having the most success post-"Friday Night Lights." While Hollywood logic would dictate that the plethora of hot young newcomers would go on to bigger and better things -- leaving the 40-something "mom and dad" in the dust -- Chandler (always a TV actor) has suddenly found himself an in-demand feature film actor ("Super 8," "Argo" and four pictures in the can), while Britton had a hit with Ryan Murphy's "American Horror Story," before moving to the lead role in "Nashville." (IMDB also lists a slew of upcoming projects for her, including on the big screen.) Taylor Kitsch, the ridiculously sexy Tim Riggins, was Hollywood's obvious pick for the next big thing. But after a string of high-profile disasters -- "John Carter," "Battleship" and "Savages" -- it will be interesting to see if he gets a second fifth chance. Adrianne Palicki's "Lone Star" got cancelled after a couple episodes, and her "Wonder Woman" pilot (thankfully) didn't even get picked up at all. (Next up for her is the big-screen "Red Dawn," about a group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers, which looks horrendous.) Minka Kelly's "Charlie's Angels' got cancelled after a couple of episodes, as did Zach Gilford's "Off the Map." (I'm not sure if his new show, "The Mob Doctor," is fairing any better.) I have, however, seen that the great Landry (Jesse Plemons)  has a recurring role on "Breaking Bad." And I also saw him in P.T. Anderson's "The Master." And now it's come to my attention that hunky Matt Lauria (above) -- aka Luke Cafferty -- has a recurring role on "Parenthood," a show I gave up on because I was convinced it was going to be cancelled. (Apparently Lauria also played a himbo on an episode of "30 Rock." ) It looks like the "Parenthood" producers are using him wisely as well -- in underwear scenes in the ocean -- while the grown-ups get the real acting jobs! 

Daddy Complex: Kyle Chandler

The good news for us is that we get another season of sexy Kyle Chandler in "Friday Night Lights," the best show on television. The bad news for him is that he'll spend another year commuting between the show's location in Austin, Texas, and his wife and adorable daughters back in Topanga, tucked away in the Santa Monica Mountains.
