Jackie O Slept Here
Just saw the Regarding Warhol: 50 Years, 60 Artists exhibit at the Met, featuring nearly 50 works by Andy Warhol and 100 others by the artists he influenced. While nearly everyone you'd expect is accounted for -- Jeff Koons, Cindy Sherman, Richard Prince, Jeff Koons, Cindy Sherman, David Hockey, Sigmar Polke -- it is the man of the honor who shines, none more so than in pieces like "Red Jackie" (above) and the haunting "Nine Jackies," capturing a faint smile in the back of a limousine just moments before her husband's assassination. As we were exiting, I couldn't help but remember that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' former Fifth Avenue digs were just a stone's throw away. Never had the honor of seeing her in person, but I think Ron Galella would be proud of me for this impromptu photo-op just the same!
