Song of the Day: 'Touched by the Sun' (live) by Carly Simon

I read Carly Simon's "Touched by the Sun: My Friendship With Jackie" on the plane to Argentina and am still reeling. It's a slight book -- and is as much about her relationships with James Taylor and second hubby Jim Hart (who turned out to be gay) -- yet surely would have been her "Answered Prayers" if any of the principals were still with us. (That's the trick, Truman.) Its release is what has people revisiting the 1995 concert she did at Grand Central Terminal, as a posthumous favor to the former first lady who saved it from demolition. Carly wrote this song for her friend shortly before her death from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1994.

Honoring a Grand Lady

Renovated Grand Central Terminal entrance to be dedicated to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

Via NYDN:
An entrance at Park Ave. will be dedicated to the former first lady on Monday. In the 1970s, she was an activist against building a 55-story tower on top of the terminal and her efforts helped lead to a U.S. Supreme Court decision that upheld the city’s Landmark Law. The terminal will feature an exhibition, which also features photos of Kennedy during the movement from the Daily News.
