Kudos to Ukrainian-born Israeli judoka Peter Paltchik, for demonstrating that even world-class athletes need to get vaccinated. Good news: After my booster debacle at Duane Reade, I got a new appointment at CVS. It's causing me to mix and match vaccines -- I had Moderna in April but my CVS only has Pfizer -- but I'm eager to get it done ... in two weeks!

The good news is everyone over 18 is now eligible for a Covid booster shot. The bad news is pharmacies are merging right and left -- and CVS is slated to close 900 stores over the next three years -- so having to deal with these duopolies is getting more difficult each day. Local NYC chain Duane Reade, which was bought out by Walgreens, inexplicably refused to give me the booster shot I had booked because they erroneously believed I also had an appointment at another location. (I didn't make an appointment at another location, but even if I had, I was later told by two other employees there was no reason this couldn’t be straightened out by the staff in two seconds.) That I hadn't had the booster was of no interest to them, they simply refused to assist me, despite the eventual scene I caused that saw me getting high-fived by strangers in the waiting area who could not believe how badly I was being treated. Alas, I will try again when I return from Thanksgiving with the family ... in the Ozarks (of all places)!, where I likely need it most.

As regular readers may recall, the European Union's decision to tighten entry for even vaccinated Americans -- thanks, spreadnecks ... and Uncle Joe didn't help, either -- has put the kibosh on our fully planned two-week trip to Northern Europe later this month. Luckily for us, we had another trip that had been postponed because of Covid up our sleeves -- to Egypt -- so we're going there instead. We are leaving in a couple weeks, with time in Alexandria, Aswan, Luxor and Cairo, including a three-day cruise on the Nile River. We've gotten some great pointers from a friend who went there with his hubby in 2019 but are always open to more feedback!

Color me shocked: Most blue states will make Biden's July 4 vaccine goal. The red ones won't. Are we sure dividing this nation into two isn't the right thing to do?

After a brief delay in reporting, I now have my Excelsior "vaccine passport," which our governor says over one million New Yorkers now have. I sure hope other states follow our lead -- and that I can travel somewhere soon!

With the Washington Post reporting that 165.1 million people in the U.S. have been vaccinated, we might just make it after all!

Very happy to report that everyone in my immediate family -- including a hesitant member and their family -- and my partner's have finally gotten vaccinated. Might there be wedding bells in 2021 after all?

Recently learned a member of my family is hesitant about getting vaccinated, so isn't letting anyone in their family get inoculated against the coronavirus. (I, on the other hand, am getting my second shot tomorrow afternoon.) That this person is highly intelligent and a Biden-loving Democrat only goes to show that this anti-vax hysteria is completely out of control, and may just keep us from ever reaching herd immunity. To that end, I am now going to post weekly photos of smart people getting vaccinated, like this hunky Marine, who even got written up explaining why he got the jab BELOW.
