Thursday Ad Watch

Some personal news to share: After 23 years in my humble Chelsea abode -- and with some prodding by my main squeeze and live-in lover -- I am moving this weekend to a charming apartment in a tidy prewar building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. As you might imagine, I have been through the gamut of emotions -- it's hard for me to say goodbye to the place my brother Bill helped me find way back when, the site of so many milestones and life-altering events having lived here longer than anywhere else in my life. But Damian and I are giddy about building a life together in a new and nicer setting, and are excited to live near the park(s) and to explore a whole new neighborhood. Packing has been a bit overwhelming, but so far the only regret I have is that I didn't hire these Roadway Moving boys for the big day. See what I'm talking about BELOW!

I lived in a fourth floor walk up studio in center city Philadelphia for 23 years. Moving was a bit traumatic. Have a good cry there before you head out. This November will be 23 years that I have lived in the house I am now in. Time speeds up from here on, enjoy it.

When we moved into our house (25 years ago) we almost got a divorce. (Who books a massage on Moving Day? My husband, that's who). Anyway, we got through it, and so will you. Good luck with the move.

Congratulations on the new place. I moved into my first NYC apartment during the summer of 1998... around the same time as you I suppose! It was a 5th floor walkup on 8th avenue across the street from what is now the Google building. I had that place until 2007, when I moved into a full service building with my boyfriend, now-husband on 7th. I'm sure that we've crossed paths!

How far Upper West are you moving? I've been in UWS/Morningside Heights for 20 years.
